Khajuraho Dance Festival Details

Khajuraho Dance Festival takes place at the open-air auditorium in front of the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to the Sun God and the Vishwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. They are situated in the Western Group of temples, which is the largest, well maintained and most easily accessible temple group of Khajuraho. Started regularly since 2002, this weeklong festival has already become legendary with its outlandish classical dance performances presented in a dreamlike setting of splendidly illuminated temples. Khajuraho temples present sculptures depicting various skills and arts of courtly love including dance and music in stone and what venue can be more befitting to hold the cultural festival highlighting the various classical dances of India!

<strong>Day 01 : Arrival Delhi </strong>

Arrive Delhi, meet assist at the airport & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Delhi.

<strong>Day 02 : Delhi - Jhansi </strong>

Jhansi- Khajuraho ( By road ) Approx. 3hrs. and half drive Enroute visitng Orchha. Morning transfer to railway station to board the fast air-conditioned train to Jhansi. On arrival at Jhansi raiwlay station meet assist and transfer to Khajuraho enroute visitng Orchha. Orchha , a historical site with magnificient temples and monuments. Some of the palaces were decorated with painted murals which represent the finest flowering of the Bundela school of painting. Continue drive to Khajuraho. On arrival transfer to hotel. After a leisurely breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of khajuraho- famous for the legendary temples of khajuraho built in the 9th and the 10th century. Acknowledged as one of the world’s artistic wonders. Khajuraho has achieved fame for the sensual appeal of its erotic sculptures. Evening enjoy Khajuraho Festival of Dances. Night stay in Khajuraho.

<strong>Day 04 : Khajuraho </strong>

After a leisurely breakfast proceed for day excursion to Raneh Falls. Evening enjoy Khajuraho Festival of Dances. Night stay in Khajuraho.

<strong>Day 05 : Khajuraho - Jhansi - Agra </strong>

After breakfast visit local markets of Khajuraho. Later transfer to railway station to board the fast air-conditioned train to Agra. On arrival at Agra railway station meet assist and transfer to hotel. Night stay in Agra.

<strong>Day 06 : Agra </strong>

Morning at sunrise visit magnificent Taj Mahal – one of the seven wonders of the world surely the most extravagant _expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. Later visit the Agra Fort – the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Am (hall of public audience), a colonnaded hall of red-sandstone with a throne alcoveof inlaid marble at the back, the Emperor heard public petitions. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. <strong>Day 07 : Agra - Jaipur </strong>

Early morning visit the magnificent Taj Mahal – one of the seven wonders of the world surely the most extravagant _expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. Later drive to Jaipur enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri -a perfectly preserved red sandstone “ghost town” which was the estranged capital of mughal emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed. Arrive Jaipur in late evening & transfer to hotel. Evening proceed to visit to visit Chowki Dhani – is a concept to join the rajasthani tribs from the world. Nowadays tourists are very much aware of rajasthan and its culture. But still they are far-far away from its roots. They know only a state of Kings… a place of snake charmers… and an emerging handicraft’s industry. But real rajasthan is still there in villages, the paintings…, art Bani Thani…, the wall decorations…, the cow dung plaster…, the pure food…, the fresh air…the evening perfomances, the enthusiasm, the ‘manuhar’ (mouthful catering), the traditions, the costumes and at last but not least the feelingsNight stay in Jaipur. <strong>Day 08 : Jaipur - Delhi </strong>

After breakfast checkout from hotel & visit the majestic Amber Fort, is one that cannot be easily described. Ride up on Elephants to the former capital of the royals set against the backdrop of the wooded hills. Later visit the City Palace, Palace of Winds also known as Hawa Mahal, this elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screen sand carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world. Past, present and future merge at Jai Singh’s Observatory, where time has been accurately measured since the 17th century. Evening transfer to railway station to board the air conditioned train to Delhi, Dinner in the train. Arrive & meet with our representative & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Delhi.

<strong>Day 09 : Departure </strong>

After breakfast checkout from hotel and proceed for sightseeing tour of New Delhi where ornate buildings recall the days when India was the Jewel in the crown of the British empire. Visit the 11th century Qutab Minar ,India Gate and the grand government buildings, the President’s House, Mahatama Gandhi Memorial. Also visit Laxmi Narayan temple popularly known as Birla Temple. Later transfer to airport for onward flight.
